Downtown Georgetown

The Red Poppy Festival marks the coming of spring and the arrival of Georgetown's colorful springtime visitor, the Red Poppy Flower. These beautiful flowers have been a part of Georgetown's heritage and landscape for over seventy years, a fact certified by the Texas legislature in naming Georgetown as the Red Poppy Capital of Texas.

The 2008 Festival will burst into bloom on Saturday and Sunday, April 26th and April 27th in historic downtown Georgetown. A Georgetown and Central Texas tradition, the Red Poppy Festival is a time to enjoy family and friends, music, food and fun! In addition, the Red Poppy Festival proceeds support facade and sign grants for Georgetown's historic buildings. As one of Texas's first Main Street cities, Georgetown began revitalizing its historic square in 1982. The Georgetown Main Street Program is committed to ensuring a vital downtown.
